In 5 steps to the perfect TV cabinet
After a long day, sinking down in front of TV, blissful! For most of us, the TV room is the center of relaxation and entertainment, so of course you want the atmosphere to be right. But, did you know that a TV cabinet can make or crack your viewing experience? We take you through 5 steps to the ideal customised TV cabinet that will not only become a stylish focal point, but also set the mood in your living room.
Step 1: determine a good setup
Everything starts with determining the best arrangement. This is not only about where you want to place the TV cabinet, but also about how it functions and looks within your interior.
-
Built in between 2 walls
Fan of a seamless and sleek look? Integrate your TV cabinet between 2 walls, semi-detached or freestanding. Whatever you choose, the walls will be neatly finished with side panels.
-
Standing or floating TV cabinet
A standing TV cabinet offers extra strength and is easier to install. A floating furniture makes cleaning easier and creates a modern and spacious look.
-
Open or closed
If you have a lot of stuff that needs a place, then create a tidy look with a TV cabinet with doors and/or self-closing drawers. If you like to show off your decorations, then an open cabinet is a good choice.
Step 2: choose the ideal size
The great advantage of customization is that you can perfectly adapt your TV cabinet to your needs. And to those of your TV. 100%, down to the millimeter. Keep these handy tips in mind when determining the ideal measurements:
✓ Width: first measure the width of your television and make sure your TV cabinet is at least 1.5 times as wide as your TV.
✓ Height: a standing TV cabinet has a height between 45 and 65 cm, with 56 cm often taken as the standard. Tip: if you want 2 drawers on top of each other, it's best to choose a height of 50 cm.
✓ Depth: the depth of a TV cabinet is usually between 40 to 45 cm, but depending on your preference it can of course be more or less.
To finish your TV furniture completely customised, you also have the choice between a tablet of 18 mm and 36 mm thickness, with a maximum length of 2.77 meters. For wider furniture, the top tablet is composed of several parts.
What about cutouts for cables and outlets?
Although we are happy to do this for you, experience tells us that you get the best results if you do this yourself on site during installation. For example, you can make the cutouts precisely in the right place, with a jigsaw or a bell drill, in the top or back of your furniture. You can also widen the infill panels on the sides to integrate electrical outlets.
Step 3: the best viewing height
For an optimal TV experience, we recommend placing the top of the television at about the same height as your head when sitting upright in your seat. This will allow you to watch TV comfortably without straining your neck.
You can place your television on the furniture or hang it on the wall, depending on your preference and the look of your space. When hanging on the wall, make sure the television is securely and safely attached, and that the viewing height is still appropriate for comfortable viewing.
TIP:
The ideal mounting height obviously depends on the space and your preference, but we recommend hanging the bottom of the floating TV cabinet between 15 and 30 cm above the ground.
Step 4: choose your color match
Choose from an extensive color collection of 23 colors and wood tones. This collection has been carefully selected to suit every taste and style.
Combine colors for a unique look: give your tablet a different color than your cabinet, or choose a different color for the inside and outside of your TV cabinet. If you choose mdf, you can finish it with paint in a RAL color or textured paint as you wish.
Some great examples
-
Timeless neutral with accent
A TV cabinet in a neutral color, enriched with playful accents, brings life to your interior. The natural wood grain adds extra authenticity.
-
Warm wood in combo with concrete floor
Combine a gray floor, a pale cast floor or a concrete floor with a warm wood tone. Consider a concrete floor with walnut or a pale cast floor with Sunlit Brown. These combinations add a contemporary yet cozy feel to any room.
-
Wood floor and quiet colors
Combine a wood floor with subtle light colors such as black, white or beige. The cabinet shade perfectly matches the floor and enhances the serene atmosphere without creating distractions. Together, they create a harmonious and elegant interior.
Step 5: last but not least ... the handles
Subtle, but not unimportant for the look of your TV cabinet: the handles. Do you go for handle-less or do you want to make a statement with striking designer knobs ... anything goes, because you can choose from no less than 32 variants.
